People have enjoyed the rejuvenating effects of spas for thousands of years, with water treatments being traced back all the way to 500 B.C. in the Belgian village of Spa. Roman soldiers would stop there to rest their aching muscles and tend to wounds suffered in battle.

1998: Cooper Spa Lobby

The mineral springs were rediscovered in 1326 and became a popular destination in the 16th century. This is where our modern conception of a spa was born.

Throughout the centuries the sites of “healing waters” continued to gain popularity and emerged as sophisticated treatments of disease. “Spa” became the term used for a health resort located near these natural springs. The present generation of spa therapies are undergoing several reforms so they can become more effective and efficient at helping improve health and wellness.

While Cooper Spa hasn’t existed for thousands of years, for the quarter century of its life, it has grown to pamper the body and mind with restorative, therapeutic and rejuvenating treatments. Over the years our product line has evolved to include a wide array of services to meet the needs of today’s customers—from Fitness Stretching Massage to Muscle Activation Techniques® (MAT) to Stone Crop Restorative Body Treatment to Deep Cleansing Facial and more.

“One of Dr. Kenneth Cooper’s 8 Steps to Get Cooperized™ is to manage stress,” said Lisa Boyle, General Manager of Cooper Spa. “By focusing on our clients’ individual well-being through services customized to their skin care needs, we help our clients lead healthier, longer lives.”

Spa benefits

  1. Helps to De-Stress

A relaxing spa visit is an ideal way to de-stress and calm your mind. No matter the treatment, you’re going to notice your mind immediately begins to feel at ease the moment you enter the spa. From here, you can finally treat yourself to a rare and highly deserved moment of “me” time.

  2. Helps to Make Skin More Radiant

In taking care of your skin with facials and treatments, your skin naturally evolves into the best version of itself. This could mean anything from minimizing acne to reducing the look of fine lines and sunspots. Starting at a young age, taking care of our skin is vital. In doing so, we’re setting ourselves up to have our best skin possible as we slowly start to age.

  3. Enhances Sleep

In taking care of your skin with facials and treatments, your skin is naturally going to evolve into the best version of itself. This could mean anything from minimizing acne to reducing the look of fine lines and sunspots.

  4. Improves Blood Flow and Circulation

On top of how incredibly relaxing massage can be, it also has therapeutic benefits such as improving blood flow and circulation. This helps our body to fend off illness because your lungs, your heart and your muscles are able to function properly. You’ll also find that your organs benefit from being in good and working order.

Persevering through COVID-19

For 25 years, Cooper Spa has focused on its customers though the ups and downs. With COVID-19, spas around the United States faced their biggest down in recent history. The COVID-19 pandemic brought many spa operations to a jarring halt. Spa visits in the U.S. were cut from 192 million visits in 2020 to 120 million visits in 2021. But Cooper Spa weathered the storm and now numbers are nearing pre-pandemic numbers. Boyle says that’s due to one thing.

“We truly care about our customers and their experience here,” Boyle said. “Customer service, skill and cleanliness are our top priorities. We carefully choose our therapists based on expertise, experience and professionalism.”
