Professional Fitness Trainer

Years at Cooper: Started in March 2019

Hometown: Nappannee, Indiana

Previous work experience prior to coming to Cooper: After graduating from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, I moved to Chicago for graduate school and started working as a personal trainer for Chicago Athletic Clubs. After grad school, I was promoted to a Personal Training Manager role for 7.5 years until I moved to Fort Worth in October 2018. Additionally, I had my own business providing in-home personal training services.

What is your favorite form of physical activity? Currently, tennis. I’d love to be like Serena Williams! When the weather isn’t 85 degrees or higher, I enjoy a brisk walk outside with our bulldogs. In the gym, I incorporate functional fitness with power, plyometrics and strength training. I’m also dabbling in Pilates on the reformer.

After a great day at work, I like to…Unwind and play with our three bulldogs (the oldest is 11, 102 pounds and has arthritis, so the outdoor walks are no longer a part of his routine).

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Professionally, I’ve had several clients say to me that I’ve changed their lives. For me, it doesn’t get better than that. That’s why I do what I do.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? Can I just be Wonder Woman?

Do you volunteer in your community? Since moving to Fort Worth, I started volunteering at Cook’s Children’s Hospital. It has been a remarkable experience and one I plan to continue as long as we’re in Texas!

If you competed in the Olympics, what sport would you participate in? I’d love to be a gymnast, but I have no experience. I was a pretty good pole vaulter in high school, so that’s probably more realistic.

What product could you not live without? Books! I cannot use a Kindle. It must be the old soul in me, but there’s something about holding a book in your hands and disconnecting from technology.

What is on your iPod or on your radio right now? Anything country and now potentially some podcasts given my commute.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve lived? The West Loop in Chicago in a loft in Fulton Market has by far been my favorite place to live. The neighborhood includes restaurant row featuring some of the best restaurants in the country, one of our fitness clubs was in the neighborhood so I could walk to work, excellent boutiques, a great Irish ice cream shop, along with the history of the meat packing facilities in Fulton Market (some of which are still thriving today) make it interesting and so appealing.

Where is your ideal vacation spot? I'm getting married in July and my fiancé is planning a surprise destination for our honeymoon. I’m hoping for a secluded paradise like Bora Bora in one of those bungalows above the ocean with a glass bottom where I can overlook the water as I eat delicious fresh seafood. It’s a tall order—we’ll see where we end up.
