In March, CFC leadership attended the IHRSA (International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association) 2017 Convention in Los Angeles, Calif. Thousands of fitness professionals attended the four-day event that included educational seminars, group workouts, a trade show and more. See photos.

 

 



Virtual yoga and Pilates classes started at CFC on March 27. The classes are beginner to intermediate level. Download flyer and schedule and watch the video. Virtual cycling classes are coming soon.

 

 



During Spring Break, March 13-15, kids and teens stayed active at Cooper’s Fit and Fun Camps and “Get Your Game On” Basketball Camp. See photos.

 

 



Member Adrienne Faulkner decided in 2016 to make her health a top priority. Through diligent diet and exercise, she has lost 45 pounds and more than 6.75 inches around her waist. Her body fat percentage has gone from an unhealthy category to excellent. Adrienne trains with Professional Fitness Trainer Shannon Edwards two to three times each week while mixing up her routine with tennis, boxing, running and yoga.

On March 13, longtime member Betty Swenson celebrated her 90th birthday. She regularly participates in CFC’s Classics group exercise program and enjoys coffee with fellow members in Cedars Woodfire Grill. Happy belated birthday, Betty!

 

 



The 10th annual Cooper Nutrition Expo was held March 6 at Cooper Fitness Center. Nearly 1,000 members and guests attended and enjoyed the culinary demos, sampling products, learning nutrition tips and more. Watch the FOX4 “Good Day” segment, which aired live from the Nutrition Expo.

 

 



Outside of organized sports, children find many ways to entertain themselves but are increasingly overwhelmed with entertainment options that promote a sedentary and unengaged lifestyle such as video games, social media and Netflix. In a recent Dallas Moms Blog post, Assistant General Manager Meredith Rosson discussed CFC’s IGNITE! program for ages 8-12 and ways to ensure children find fun in team sports (whichever they choose). The Cooper Institute® is hard at work in Washington, D.C., advocating for the passage of the Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act, which was reintroduced to the U.S. Congress in early March. The PHIT Act would allow consumers to use pre-tax medical accounts on preventive physical activities.

 

 



Research conducted by The Cooper Institute® through its NFL PLAY 60 FitnessGram® Project revealed annual improvements in aerobic capacity and body mass index for students participating in NFL PLAY 60 programming when compared to schools not utilizing NFL PLAY 60 programs.
