Shaking Up Your Routine with Group Workouts Catered to Your Needs

Workouts on your own can quickly become monotonous and boring. Finding a workout partner can add a new level of accountability, motivation and excitement to your workout regimen.

Cooper Fitness Center offers one-on-one personal training, but did you know that Small Group Training (SGT) classes are also available? SGT classes are designed for groups up to six clients who will work with one Cooper Fitness Center Professional Fitness Trainers over the course of five weeks.

“Over those five weeks, participants in small group training classes develop a sense of camaraderie and have a lot of fun together,” says Ryan Sheppard, Cooper Fitness Professional Fitness Trainer and SGT instructor. "These small group classes are also great for motivation. People will keep coming back if they know someone is waiting on them and going to push them.”

Although working in a group, trainers give detailed personal attention and instruction to each participant, focusing on technique and tailoring the workout to each person.

Each with a different focus, there are a number of SGT classes available this fall. Class options include:

TRX—Training using the TRX Suspension Training system to target core, strength, power, and metabolic conditioning.

TRX Hybrid—Incorporates the TRX Suspension Training system and other equipment including battle ropes, kettle bells, slide boards, and stability balls for an intense, full-body workout.

Teen TRX Hybrid—TRX Hybrid class for teens ages 13 to 18.

Body SHOCK—Goal-oriented workout that combines high-intensity cardio and strength training.

Form & Function—Based on the results of a Functional Movement Screen, this class incorporates corrective exercises to improve mobility and stability for optimal movement.

Weight Loss—Step-by-step recommendations to improve habits, nutrition, and exercise routine, guiding each participant toward his or her weight loss goals.

Lean n’ FIT—Full-body workout challenging lower body arms, and core, aimed at helping participants get lean and strong in a circuit-type workout environment.

Small Group Training classes are becoming increasingly popular at Cooper Fitness Center. “People enjoy the aspect of personal training, with regular workout partners in the small group environment,” said Sheppard, who teaches Teen TRX Hybrid and the new Lean n’ FIT SGT classes.
