Cooper Complete Introduces a Reformulated Prostate Supplement

When science evolves, our Cooper Complete® formulas evolve, too. This has recently been the case with Cooper Complete Prostate Health, and the new formula may help you or the men in your life achieve optimal health.

What is Cooper Complete Prostate Health?

Cooper Complete Prostate Health is designed to help lessen the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as an enlarged prostate. BPH is a normal, gradual enlargement of the prostate caused by hormonal fluctuations that usually begins in middle age. BPH is not dangerous, does not usually cause pain and does not lead to cancer. However, the symptoms are sometimes uncomfortable.

More than 50 percent of men 60 and older are affected by BPH, and 80 percent of men aged 80 or older experience symptoms. Some symptoms include discomfort (feeling of pressure) in the groin area, a frequent or urgent need to urinate, a stop-and-start urine flow or weak urine stream, nocturia (waking up during the night because you have to urinate) and a feeling that the bladder hasn’t emptied fully. Up to 65 percent of men who supplement their diets with two Cooper Complete Prostate Health softgels daily for two months report a lessening of these symptoms.

The Ingredients in Cooper Complete Prostate Health’s New Formula

      Saw Palmetto (200 mg)

Saw palmetto is a palm that grows in the southern coastal regions of the United States. It is used often in Europe for the management of BPH symptoms, and the U.S. has now caught on to its potential benefits. It is commonly recommended as an alternative to conventional prescription drugs. In fact, a large analysis of multiple studies concluded that saw palmetto produced a benefit similar to finasteride, a drug for enlarged prostate, and was better tolerated with fewer side effects.

Saw palmetto does not shrink the overall size of the prostate, but it seems to shrink the inner lining that puts pressure on the tubes that carry urine. Men taking blood thinners (such as Coumadin or Warfarin) should not take Cooper Complete Prostate Health as saw palmetto may increase bleeding.

Pygeum (100 mg)

Pygeum is a new addition to the Cooper Complete Prostate Health formula. Researchers have observed that pygeum improves urinary function in men who experience mild to moderate symptoms, significantly reducing urinary hesitancy, frequency and the number of times patients wake up at night to urinate. It does not reduce the size of the prostate gland or reverse the progression of BPH, but instead aids in symptom relief. Pygeum decreases nocturia by 19 percent, increases peak urine flow by 23 percent and reduces residual urine volume by 24 percent in men with BPH.

Lycopene (5 mg)

Lycopene is one of a number of pigments called carotenoids, which gives fruits and vegetables a red color. Lycopene is naturally found in watermelons, pink grapefruits and apricots. Tomatoes and tomato products such as ketchup, spaghetti sauce and tomato soup have particularly high levels of lycopene.

Exciting new research indicates that lycopene may help offer protection against prostate cancer. Several studies have shown that men who consume more lycopene have less risk of prostate cancer and experience an increase in energy. One major study of 45,000 men, conducted by Harvard University, indicated that eating 10 or more servings per week of tomato products was linked to a reduced risk of prostate cancer by as much as 34 percent.

Prostate Cancer and Prevention

Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in America and affects one in six men. Health care professionals recommend screening for prostate cancer after the age of 50.

There are several steps men can take to decrease the risk of developing prostate cancer. A high-fat diet and obesity may increase the risk for prostate cancer because obesity increases inflammation and steroid hormones, such as testosterone. Adjusting your diet to include fewer high-fat dairy products such as cheese, sour cream and ice cream may help lower the overall risk. Exercise (at least 30 minutes, five days a week), smoking cessation and relaxation may also help decrease the risk of developing prostate cancer. These lifestyle modifications are important for many other areas of health as well, which is why Dr. Cooper includes them in his Eight Steps to Get Cooperized.
